Veteran Fishing Day

On Wednesday, July 20th, FVTU Service Partnership Coordinator Jim Borowski teamed with a small group of veterans from the Kalispell Vet Center for a few hours of fly fishing. The Kalispell Vet Center serves veterans throughout the Flathead Valley and their outreach program offers a wide variety of interesting and helpful outdoor activities.

Marine veteran Clark Bevans fishes the South Fork below Hungry Horse Reservoir

The vets focused on the South Fork of the Flathead River between Hungry Horse Reservoir and its confluence with the Middle Fork. The South Fork was clear, but strong at around 6000 cfs., and the fish were less than cooperative. Still, it was time well spent as the veterans got some coaching on the sport, improved their casting skills, and had the opportunity to spend quality time on one of Montana’s finest rivers.

FVTU is proud of our local veterans and looks forward to our next opportunity to get them onto the water.
