FVTU Christmas Party

HO! HO! HO!

On Thursday, December 21, FVTU returned to Bias Brewing for its annual Christmas Party. A time of fun, good food, great camaraderie, and fantastic raffle prizes. Keeping with tradition, we hold a bucket raffle chock full of all sorts of great fishing and outdoor gear.

Raffle tickets were just a dollar each or $20 for an arm’s length (hint: Always buy from a tall guy with long arms.) And yes, someone did win that MFC Boat Box loaded with 10 dozen flies worth over $500 for just a buck!

Over fifty people attended the fun filled evening and, breaking with tradition, we had good weather and dry roads for a change!

“That way to the bucket raffle”

Festivities included a couple of fly tying contests. The first was to see who could tie the fastest pheasant tail. Each tier was supplied with all of the necessary materials. The winner was judged not just on speed but artistic quality as well. Meaning, did it resemble a pheasant tail in some way shape or form?

Some serious tying going on here!

The second contest was a bit more challenging. Two tiers sat side by side with their two closest arms tied together. Then, working together, they had to tie a pheasant tail using only their free hands. Coordination and cooperation were the keys to success.

A good time was had by all as they say.

Immediate past president Dan Short calls another winning raffle number.

Our annual Christmas Party is a fun filled family event that always brings good cheer to the participants. Come join us next year and maybe Dan will call your winning number!

Until then, join us at our regular monthly meetings throughout the remainder of the winter. We have some excellent programs planned and every regular meeting features great door prizes.

See you in January!
