Put January 26th on your calendar, because the West Slope Chapter of TU in Missoula is sponsoring a fly tying day at the Holiday Inn Parkside from 10:00 Am to 3:30 PM. Cost is $5.00, kids under 15 get in free, and if you join WSTU on Saturday, entrance is free. You’ll get to see fly tyers from all over the region, including Tim Tollett from Dillon, Headhunters from the Missouri, the Kingfisher, Missoulian Angler, The River Otter, Rock Creek Mercantile, Grizzly Hackle, Blackfoot River Outfitters, Doug Brewer, John Gould, Doug Swisher, Les Rutledge, John Perry, George Kesel and many more. This is the who’s who of local tyers, and they will all be tying at the Holiday Inn on January 26th. The shops will be setting up booths to show the latest and greatest in tying materials, so you can pick up the materials you need to get your tying season started right.

You will need to sign up in advance for the tying classes, and they will be filled on a first come, first served basis. And if you plan to tie, bring a light, because the class rooms have soft comfortable lighting for meetings, not for fly tying. All classes are designed for intermediate tyers. There will be a kids tying table, so kids can get a chance to try out fly tying. The kids table will run on half hour intervals, starting at 10:30 and going till 2:00PM.
This exposition will give local tyers a chance to come out and see the best local tyers tying flies that work in our area. You’ll have a great chance to see some new techniques and and some different flies, and have the chance to ask questions and learn about the latest in tying techniques and materials.
