Following the August netting effort, managers have successfully removed over 80% of the invasive lake trout population. Adult kokanee salmon populations are at their highest point since fishing was closed in 2000 and bull trout populations have not been affected. Kokanee numbers overall are expected to be at their highest since 1996 in 2013 following their lowest point ever in 2007.

“We generally view lake trout as bad neighbors,” Corsi said of a fish species that was introduced to the lake.
