Volunteers needed for Swan Lake

We need your help to continue the success of the Swan Lake Lake Trout Removal Project. The 2012 schedule is set and netting on Swan Lake will take place between August 12 and August 31.

Volunteers are needed to help fill 3 – 3.5 hour shifts on the boat during the week of Sunday August 19 through Friday August 24. Volunteers may also be needed the following week.
Please see the calendar with the netting schedule for your reference as you check you schedules to see if you can help out with this important project. Results from the first three years of the project are showing great promise for bull trout recovery in the Swan drainage.
Here are the details:
  1. Volunteers are needed the week of August 19 through 24 (Please see the schedule).
  2. Two net sets are made each day, AM & PM. AM shift is from 8am to noon, PM shift is from 8pm to midnight. When we are fishing on the north the meeting location will be the parking area just north of the Terrace Supper Club. When we are fishing the south end of the lake, we will meet at the USFS public boat launch in the town of Swan Lake. Volunteers will meet at 8am for the morning shift and 7pm for the evening shift. Meeting times may be adjusted as the project moves along, and we will keep all volunteers informed.
  3. Volunteers will be helping to process lake trout on the boat as the nets are pulled for each set. Processed lake trout are then sent to local food banks to help folks in need.
