The Westslope Chapter of TU in Missoula is challenging all other TU chapters in the state to tie flies in support of the Warriors & Quiet Waters Foundation (WQW). WQW is a Montana based non-profit that brings combat injured Iraq and Afghanistan veterans to Montana for a week of fly fishing. Each participating vet receives a complete fly fishing outfit; rod, reel, waders, boots, rain gear, etc. which is theirs to keep. They also receive a selection of flies. The flies you donate for this promotion will go to those vets. These can be flies you tie just for this event; ones you’ve tied in the past; ones you buy; or just ones you’ve got in your fly box you’re willing to part with in support of a good cause. The chapter that donates the most flies per member will receive a Winston Boron fly rod worth $900 that they can use as a fund raiser for their chapter. All flies must be submitted to FVTU by February 28th. You can bring your files to the next FVTU chapter meeting on February 20th. If you can’t make the meeting, contact FVTU Veterans Service Partnership Coordinator Jim Borowski at 755-5051, or email him at email@example.com and he’ll make arrangements to pick your flies up.
