Flathead Valley Trout Unlimited is proud to honor the service of all of our nation’s veterans on this Memorial Day.

With the help of National TU, we were able to recently donate fly fishing and fly tying materials to the Kalispell Vet Center to help out with their recovery activities.

The Vet Center is part a community-based program operated by the VA that provides free counseling services to veterans who served in a combat theater, their families, and survivors of sexual trauma that occurred while serving in the military.  Around 9,300 veterans live in Flathead County with another 9,000 live within the service area of the Center.

As part of their outreach activities, the Center is exploring the  therapeutic aspects of fly fishing and fly tying. Flathead Valley Trout Unlimited along with TU National and L.L. Bean is proud to be able to help out with workshops and equipment and to help build connections between veterans and the abundant outdoor activities throughout our area.

To get more information on how you can connect with the Vet Center as a veteran, or to help out, call 406-257-7308, or stop by the office at 690 N Meridian Rd., Suite 101. You can also check out their hours of operation and get more information at the VA website.

Montana has the highest number of veterans per capita in the United States and the Flathead Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited is proud to have to opportunity to work with our nation’s warriors to provide whatever help we can so they can all all lead productive and enjoyable lives.
